Just a Quick One

I've been busy making many new layouts, but I'm finding that on my current version of Photoshop (I have version 6.0) it doesn't copy the name of the files directly into the layers which is necessary to credit the elements, templates and papers I use in my creations. So, I have to do this manually, then copy the credits into Microsoft OneNote (which I love!) and then finally, type it once more into my blog post. Wooh! Somehow, I need process improvement. *I'll keep working on that one!*

For now, I just wanted to share a quick upload of a fun and playful photo op compliments of Big Huge Labs. I suggest taking a look and playing with their different photo manipulations when you have some free time. These photos were taken years ago while I was driving up to a soccer tournament with Jade in the San Bernardino area. We left before it was light (yeah, I used to love those early games!) and I was able to catch some pretty amazing shots of the sunrise over the mountains. Just to add - I was driving on the freeway doing about 75mph while I took these... Gotta love my Canon's sports mode.

Hugs,
Nikki

Waiting for Some Sunshine

It's been a few days and the clouds have given me the blues. (Well, that and some Windows 7 SP1 install issues!) I have just picked up my PC with my frustration level back to low and have decided to create. I always thought you could just go for days on end creating layouts but I do burn out on it. There are always more elements and papers to tag and organize, and just like my disorganized scrapbooking supplies, thus seems to be the same with my digital scrapbooking supplies. It takes an hour sometimes to find just the right element, or a set of coordinating designs for a layout or two. That is part of the fun, but it can wear on you. I will sometimes take breaks and get up from the madness on my screen and turn to my reading or go for a walk with Pei. I guess my process may be different from others, but it's mine and I'll take it. I love the end result regardless of the journey to get there. When finished, my layout grabs a moment in time (through the lens) and through my heart and shows that to the viewer. Not too scrappy, eh?

Starting Over

You can say it's been awhile, and I would tell you it seems like a lifetime since my last post. Good things have come from a very rough period of growth over the last five months. I had to step away from this blog to take care of other matters. Isn't that what happens in life? When something comes up and takes precedence, something else must take the proverbial back burner. Such is life. So, now that I've taken up time with my beloved Photoshop, I've been itching to put my pages up. The funny part is: I'm the only one that really sees any of this, but I love that a few others have stumbled across my little piece of the internet and hopefully enjoyed their visit. Cheers for now.

This first set was from a recent trip to Santa Cruz with John and Jade. I loved making several pages with less pics on each page and using the same elements across all of the pages. With my huge supply, I used to think that was blasphemy not to use a ton of different page elements, but I am beginning to see the tranquility of a simpler layout and am attracted to others' work who have a cleaner layout and element combination.
